Prevalence and Distribution of Bacterial Pathogens Causing Urinary Tract Infections in Humans: A Study from Tertiary Care Hospital in AP, India

چکیده
A urinary tract infection, or UTI, is an infection of the urinary tract. The infection can occur at different points in the urinary tract. An infection in the bladder is also called cystitis or a bladder infection. An infection of one or both kidneys is called pyelonephritis or a kidney infection. The tubes that take urine from each kidney to the bladder are only rarely the site of infection. An infection of the tube that empties urine from the bladder to the outside is called urethritis. Urinary tract infections are the most common infections in clinical practice (Noor et al., 2004) Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most important causes of morbidity in the general population, and is the second most common cause of hospital visits (Ronald and Pattulo, 1991)

Prevalence and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Bacteria Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections in Amol Public Hospitals: A Brief Report
Background and purpose: Descriptive knowledge of the epidemiology of bacteria causing urinary tract infection (UTI) and their antibiotic resistance patterns is of great importance in evidence-based decision-making of physicians and health planners in a region. This study investigated the prevalence and resistance pattern of bacteria isolated from urinary tract infections in Amol, north of Iran,...
متن کاملStreptococcus agalactiae-associated Urinary Tract Infections amongst Male Patients at a Tertiary Care Setting in Southwest India
Introduction: The occurrence of urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by the group B Streptococcus (GBS) in females is well documented. On the contrary, the prevalence amongst males is infrequent, and studies from the Indian subcontinent are limited. This study aimed to determine the occurrence of GBS bacteriuria and its antibiotic susceptibility profile amongst male patients. Methods: Clean-c...
متن کاملPrevalence and antibiotic susceptibility pattern of bacterial pathogens causing urinary tract infections in humans at a tertiary care hospital in AP
BACKGROUND: Urinary tract infections are most common infection caused by bacterial pathogens seen mostly in developing countries. It is one of the common clinical conditions in the patients presenting to the hospitals. A causative agent varies from place to place. OBJECTIVE: Studies are done to know the most common pathogen of urinary tract infections and its antibiotic susceptibility patterns,...
متن کاملPhenotypic Identification and Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern of AmpC beta-Lactamase Producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections from a Tertiary Care Hospital of Rawalpindi, Pakistan
Introduction: This study is aimed to compare phenotypic test methods and determine antibiotic susceptibility pattern of AmpC beta-lactamase producing uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical isolates. Method: E. coli and K. pneumoniae were identified by standard microbiological procedures. Screening of AmpC beta-lactamase production was done by using cefoxitin disc (...
متن کاملEvaluation of Antibiotic Susceptibility of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella spp. Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections of Patients Attending a University Hospital in Tehran
Background and Objectives: E. coli and Klebsiella spp. are recognized as most prevalent bacteria causing urinary tract infection (UTI), the most common bacterial infection. Decreasing of antimicrobial susceptibility in urinary pathogens has made difficulty in treatment of UTI. The aim of this study was to determine antibiotic susceptibility of E. coli and Klebsiella spp. isolated from urine of ...
